Young people 11 - 19 years - You're Welcome

Dipton Surgery is aiming to be accredited as a 'You’re Welcome Practice'

All young people are entitled to receive appropriate health care wherever they access it. The You’re Welcome quality criteria lay out principles that will help health services to achieve this.

The quality criteria cover nine topic areas:

  • accessibility
  • publicity
  • confidentiality and consent
  • the environment
  • staff training, skills, attitudes and values
  • joined-up working
  • monitoring and evaluation, and involvement of young people
  • health issues for adolescents
  • sexual and reproductive health services

Over the next 6 months the practice will be improving services to meet the above criteria and welcomes comments from young people on how we can make the practice meet the needs of our young people.

Here To Listen Not to Tell – Confidentiality

We provide a confidential service to all young people including under 16’s. This means that you can tell others about this visit but we won’t. You can be seen on your own or with a friend for support.

The only reason why we might have to consider passing on confidential information without your permission would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.

You can ask for an appointment with a male or female clinician.
The Practice has a male GP or a Female Nurse practitioner.
